I always visit this restaurant when I travel to Los Angeles. The food is consistently delicious and reasonably priced, attracting customers from all over. The busy staff provides great service and helpful advice to new customers. Reviews speak for themselves - no need for advertising. You must come and try it for yourself.
Felt like the roasted duck could use less salt and that they could have put more duck in the dish, and more veggies in the shrimp Tom yum soup. But other than that, everything was good and I would definitely order it all over again! Service was fast! Place was packed and the wait time for two people was maybe 15-20 mins at 10pm. The valet after 9pm was $3! The most for valet is $6, which is still a good price considering it's a plaza with dessert shops, boba, and more food. Also the valet bings your car and they open the door for you and your passengers, felt like I was on vacation atp!
Came here before dinner time on a Saturday. It was not busy so if you don't want to wait then come before 6pm. Their thai tea was good and prefect for a hot day. You can choose spicy level for your dishes and we did medium, we loved it! If you love thai food, this is a place you gotta try it out. Parking was valet only fyi.
Food 4/5: Pad see Ew was really good, smoky taste, full of flavor, honestly one of the best I've ever tasted, but duck over rice was a bit too blend, not much flavor, a bit disappointed. Service 5/5: very friendly, food also came out fairly fast. If you go around 5:30pm no wait time. Ambiance 3/5: just casual diner setting, good for dates, hangouts.
I know there is usually a long wait for this place, but it is 100% deserved. If you'd prefer to skip the wait, they have takeout as well. Went with 2 friends and ordered a variety of items. The stars were definitely the Papaya Salad, green curry, yellow curry, and their own lemongrass beer (can't remember the name). We also ordered pad thai, pad sew ew, and garlic greens. Safe to say, come hungry! The service is pretty fast for how busy they were. They also are very accommodating of peanut allergies if there is anyone in your group with one.
Is this the best Thai food in town? No, is it the most authentic yes. Is it the best authentic and budget friendly Thai food in LA, 100% yes. Lemme just rave about the tom kha soup. I have never in my life tasted a soup as delicious as this soup. The amount of limey ness is so so so perfect as a lime girl. and the morning glory was also very delicious as usual. It's my favorite veggie as a kid and this taste brings back so much nostalgia. The spicy catfish was good too but I def like the other two dishes more. I will 100% be coming back and I'm bringing my friends too. Until next time~ xoxo eating girl~
Finally tried the infamous Ruen Pair Thai Restaurant this week. I think part of the charm is eating at the actual restaurant and not just getting carry out or delivery. Inside was cute with a Hollywood mural~! You gotta love the homage to LA. Clean restaurants & service, quick service - what more could you want?! Some say Ruen Pair has the best Thai food in LA! I am not well versed enough in Angelano Thai restaurants yet to know, but it is very delicious. Serving from the central and northeast regions of Thailand, some of their items are a bit more unique. You'll still have the curries, noodle dishes and rice dishes but also some more fun items like their Morning Glory with Crispy Pork. I went basic b~ and had Chicken Pad Thai on my visit. It was the standard rice noodles with egg, bean sprouts, green onions and crushed peanuts but did have a great flavor to it. My friend had (and I tried a bit) of the BBQ Pork, chinese sausage and very crispy pork belly over rice with dark soy chili sauce. We both agreed we should try the duck next time, but liked the BBQ Pork best of our meats. Parking in this lot is never fun, but they do have a $3 semi valet parking lot. So there's that, lol. They're open LATE! A huge plus for late night eats in Thai Town.
I had a chance to come here with my mom recently and it was popping! We got their right before the rush on a Saturday, so luckily we were able to be sat right away. We ordered the pad thai, crispy pork and broccoli, and a crab fried rice. The dishes were all delicious, but my personal fave was the crab fried rice! The restaurant is a mom and pop small business with the staff hustling to be able to get everyone's orders and serve them to their guests. It's a smaller restaurant that can seat maybe 50 people comfortably.
